LOVE in a Bowl
Hout Bay | Whilst Courage played a critical role in the lives of many in the community of Hout Bay during lockdown, we could not have done it without some of our amazing partnerships with other NGO’s. Our partnership with “Gracie Love in a Bowl”, who started growing organic vegetables in response to the extreme hunger in the community many years ago, has burgeoned into a powerful alliance.
Courage aims to use a substantial amount of funding received towards a long term food supply model to support the community. The Courage team has now partnered officially with “Gracie Love in a Bowl”, to supply funding to launch a new offering to the local community. Keep your eye out for LOVE in a Bowl….

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ― Nelson Mandela
The Courage Initiative was born out of crisis and the need to stand together as one in order to triumph.
We bring together heroes, communities and NGOs to work with solidarity to overcome difficult times.
Our focus is on pooling people, funding and resources in the most cost-effective and impactful way to address the most dire needs of affected communities.
To inspire all Africans to have the Courage to stand as one and create a safer more resilient society.
The most serious consequence of any crisis is the lack of ability to have food on the table. If people from all walks of life collaborate, everyone can eat.
A Hout Bay resident wanted to wake up from pancreatic surgery knowing that she had mobilized her community into action. She pledged the first R1mil to start the food distribution program, knowing that many of her neighbours were going hungry during the lockdown. She believes now more than ever is the time to be working together to help those in need.
Where your money goes
We want you to know that 100% of the money you donate is used purely in the effort to eliminate hunger from our communities affected by the economic downfall from Covid-19. We are working towards a future where no one goes hungry.

How WE Work
We safely deliver food and aid, door-to-door for the people that need it.
We are providing funding and assistance to local NGO’s, Community Groups, Churches, and Sports Clubs, all of which have trusted relationships within our communities. LoveinaBowl is a new initiative receiving funding for their long term food supply model.
Distribution of Food & Aid
We are collecting funding from donors as well as the community. With great governance over this generosity, we are ensuring everything donated is getting to where it is most needed. Funding and logistics are provided by Courage directly to community initiatives.
Procurement & Delivery
Courage endeavours to procure both staple food parcels as well as fresh produce and works directly with our trusted partners who deliver it straight into the community. The new partnership LoveinaBowl receives funding to create nutritional organically grown veggies for those in need.
